Macro tracking can seem overwhelming in the beginning. It's new and might be a bit uncomfortable even.

Think of this as just one tool in your box to help you get where you wanna go! Whatever your goals are, you'll need to make some sacrifices and be disciplined in order to get there.

Here's three simple tips that may help:

✨ Pre-log your day

✨ Meal prep what you can

✨ Be flexible with your approach

With another week coming to an end, this is a great time to reflect on how you can set yourself up for success for the following week ahead.

Especially with a holiday weekend! Flexibility will be key!

Things go by so quickly and even when you're having a rough day, you'll look back and wish you could have slowed down time.

I knew from a super young age that I wanted to be a mom more than anything else. And early on postpartum I promised myself that how my body looks & feels would never take precedence over being in the moment & making memories with my new little family.

My baby & husband don't care that I'm 25 lbs up from my pre-pregnancy weight. I grew, nurtured & was literally cut open to deliver a whole, perfect little human. That's something to celebrate!

We're coming up soon on 1 year already. And I'm so glad that I've taken my personal fitness journey slowly. It allowed me to not feel anxious if I was nap trapped all day, or we wanted to spontaneously go out to eat and have fun as a family. It allowed me to supply milk for 8 months so my baby could have a strong immune system. It allowed me to not add one more thing to stress about while lacking sleep and learning a whole new routine as my life drastically changed overnight. In fact, if I could go back I'd put even less pressure on myself. I know now that it's well worth waiting until the time feels right.

I hope that if you're a new mama, you give yourself the grace and love that you deserve, too! The gym will always be there when you're ready.

This has gone by really fast! Today, I'm sharing all about my process/progress and plans moving forward!

Getting vulnerable with progress pics is not the most fun🤦‍♀️😬

BUT- I know this can be helpful to you if you happen to be going through a similar process. Especially my postpartum mamas!! This is HARD. And I rarely see women post the messy, no so cute process. Rather than sharing my after picture with an update after my goal is achieved, I want to be honest and show the process while I go through it.

My fitness/health goals have changed drastically over the last few years.

It started when we went through infertility/loss & I knew how important it was to take care of not just my physical body but also my mental state.

During pregnancy and early postpartum I just wanted to keep moving no matter what. To maintain what I could, move for the mental benefit & for a healthy baby.

Now I want to be healthy, feel strong, & be capable of running around with my son for years and years to come! I also want to feel like myself and that includes taking care of my mind/body everyday.

Setting monthly goals helps me maintain excitement about the process. It may feel like small progress along the way, but it all counts towards the bigger goal!

Meal prep is a must for our family!

I know some people don't enjoy eating the same thing all week long. But I would argue that cooking all week long is far worse! 👎🏼

If you struggle with hitting your goals during the week, but you aren't prepping your meals..... Give it a try! It takes 1-2 hrs of your entire week to prep some staple foods.

This guarantees you have yummy, healthy options available and ready to go!

No scrambling to make something at the last minute on a busy night. No last minute ordering takeout because you forgot to plan something. It's already taken care of. 🙌🏻

Still can't get on board?! Try prepping just your proteins. Protein is the hardest to hit. Having pre-prepped sources can still minimize the amount of time you spend cooking on weeknights and help you reach your goals.

How to be consistent with macro tracking:

Incorporate your favorite foods into your day! Track them in ahead of time and make room for them.

Over-restricting will not be sustainable.

No one wants to eat chicken, broccoli & rice for every meal. It's not realistic to think you won't want to enjoy chocolate, chips, or a meal out occasionally.

Of course, you can always make healthy swaps for treats, but enjoying the real deal throughout the week is the best way to make this a sustainable lifestyle.

Shopping & a coffee date ✨

It was nice to finish a whole conversation without getting interrupted or pulled in a different direction. Jack got three teeth this week 😬 and we all had a cold, so this was very much needed.

I also treated myself to a massage yesterday. That's something I never did until I got pregnant and now I look forward to them so much. Finding other ways to appreciate my body (& needing to show it lots of grace) aside from just aesthetics. It's been harder to do as a mom, but needs to be a bigger priority.

Some kind of yogurt bowl has been my go-to dessert the last couple weeks! I'm currently hooked on this one with golden Oreos 👌🏻

You'll need:

170g (1 serving) Two Good vanilla yogurt
18-20g lite cool whip
2-4 Golden Oreos (macros are for 2)
Whipped cream

Mix together the yogurt & cool whip. Top with Oreos & the whipped cream!

So simple, has some decent protein, and tastes delish!

Sharing my mini Trader Joe's haul from earlier this week!

1️⃣ PROTEINS:

I love options like deli meat, chicken sausages and turkey bacon for some easy options when you're either running low or forgot to plan something.

If you're a seafood lover, you need to get their seafood blend! I love making this with some pasta and a white wine sauce.

2️⃣ VEGGIES:

TJ's has some of the best veggies! I always grab a bag of baby kale or mixed greens and something from their precut options.

I also love to snag some frozen veggies, too like these carrots and bell peppers for something quick to add to a weeknight dinner.

3️⃣ CARBS:

They have the best gnocchi! I love having these on hand in our freezer to pair with a protein and veggie for a simple dinner.

I've been loving these flour tortillas this week for breakfast wraps!

And this sweet corn ravioli is so good, with decent macros!

4️⃣ EXTRAS:

I always grab things that are more fun than what we can find at Kroger! Typically spices, sauces or dips. I love their everything but the elote seasoning so had to grab this Greek yogurt dip. Hemp hearts are great to add to a smoothie, oatmeal or salad, and they have decent protein & fiber.
