The Only Blue Margarita Recipe You Need to Try
Happy Friday! I know this was a short week technically with Monday off for Labor Day, but wow did it still feel long!
So, to help us all through the weekend and help us relax a little, I’m sharing my all time favorite cocktail recipe. This blue margarita is truly the best marg you’ll ever have. Anytime we have guests over it’s a huge hit and they request it every time!
This recipe was inspired by one of my favorite vacations with my husband in Destin, FL. We actually went during December on a whim in 2016 and even though it obviously wasn’t warm enough to lay out or swim, we had the most fun!
We had just gotten engaged a few months earlier and it was our first little getaway. We stopped at The Back Porch restaurant and they had a blue margarita and I became obsessed. Since then, I’ve perfected my own recipe! I hope you love it as much as I do!
What you’ll need:
- 2 oz silver tequila
- 1.5 oz blue curacao
- 1.5 oz lime juice
- 1.5 oz simple syrup (can be substituted with either honey or agave)
- 2 cups ice
- Add 1 cup ice to a cocktail glass and set aside.
- Pour tequila, blue curacao, lime juice and simple syrup, along with remaining ice into a cocktail shaker and shake for 10-15 seconds (I have noticed that stirring doesn’t work that well because the simple syrup doesn’t mix fully).
- Pour mixture over a cocktail strainer and into prepared glass.
- Enjoy!
Let me know if you try it and what you think! It’s such a simple recipe and so delicious, I promise you’ll be making it on repeat. Happy weekend!
