Simple High Protein Iced Caramel Toffee Latte at Home
Coffee plus protein? A win-win in my book!
I’ve been trying my best to make lattes at home for the most part and have been experimenting with some different recipes. I was getting to the point that I was picking up lattes 2-3 times a week and that’s just too expensive to keep up with. Although I could of course budget for this expense, it does feel very unnecessary. It’s been a good opportunity to find ways to minimize excess spending and I’ve actually come to enjoy making lattes at home! I definitely still indulge in a coffee out, but it’s more like one per week or even every other week and that feels a lot more sustainable.
I wondered if adding protein to my latte would work and it was SO good! Of course, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a regular latte, but a boost in protein never hurts! This won’t get you a full serving (I generally think of that as 20g or more), but it does get you 15g which is about the same amount of a typical protein bar. It’s the perfect midday treat!
I do recommend using a high-quality protein powder when trying this recipe. I personally use Clean Simple Eats and find that this has the best flavor and mixes very well. You could use another brand or flavor, but just consider how well it generally mixes in cold liquid. You may also consider using a milk frother to mix yours if this is an issue.
INGREDIENTS:
- Protein powder of choice (linked the one I used HERE– it’s the caramel toffee flavor)
- Whole milk (or milk of choice/milk substitute)
- Sugar free Torani vanilla bean syrup
- Espresso
- Ice
KITCHEN TOOLS NEEDED:
- Espresso machine, or coffee maker (you’ll need to be able to make espresso, or buy an iced espresso; I have a Ninja coffee maker and use the ‘specialty’ option to make mine)
- Shaker or milk frother
