2026 is the year I finally become a morning person!

I have a few goals for 2026 but one of the biggest ones is to become a ‘morning person.’

Which, if you know me…. then you already know how hard that’s going to be to achieve!

I struggle to wake up when my alarm goes off in the morning. I’ll have the best intensions the night before that I want to get my workout done early or get some work done for my app (the BUILD membership, I’ll talk about that in another post soon!) but then I find myself staying up too late, snoozing my alarm in the morning and then scrambling to get out the door in the morning.

I am not at all proud of my current routine but I’m just being honest with you about my starting point!

Before kids, I was a 5 AM workout girlie and rarely missed a day. But somehow, I have never made the early mornings work for me since then (and it’s been three whole years at this point). So, 2026 is the year that I make this a reality!

In order to do that, I made a list of what I could do to make achieving this goal as easy and no-brainer as possible. I thought I would share with you today in case you are also attempting a new goal (even if it’s not to wake up earlier).

1- Remove Barriers:

* Set up as much as possible for the next morning before I go to bed. This includes supplements, water bottle, gym clothes, my bible/devotional, and a pre-workout snack.

* Charge my phone across the bedroom so I have to physically get out of bed to turn off the alarm. Once I’m up, I’m up. No getting back in bed. But this will be 10x easier than being able to just snooze the alarm and roll back over to sleep.

* Put my phone to bed first. I cannot tell you how many nights lately I find myself scrolling or doing something non-urgent on my phone and suddenly I realize it’s far past my bedtime and an early morning wake-up is going to be nearly impossible. Instead, I plan to ‘put my phone to bed’ on the charger across the bedroom well before I plan to go to sleep.
2- Be Realistic:

* I already know this is going to be a big challenge for me (and that’s okay). So, I’m being realistic and knowing that it may take some trial and error to find what works for me best. I’ll celebrate every small win along the way to keep myself motivated.

* I’m tired if I wake up at 6:30 AM, and I’m tired if I wake up at 5 AM. The only difference is that an earlier wake up means I have time to collect myself for the day (and likely workout) before I wrangle a toddler first thing. And all moms know – that’s a smoother transition for everyone.

* I also plan to remind myself how this goal will make me feel the rest of the day. I often am more relaxed, less overwhelmed, and much more likely to hit my other goals for the day if I can wake up early and have some time to myself.

3- Have Something to Look Forward to:

* Coffee programmed the night before so I’m not waiting on it and delaying getting my morning started. Coffee is my love language – so having this ready to go immediately will be such a motivation to get up and get moving!

* I love quiet time with my bible and devotional. Without fail, my day is better if I start with Jesus.

* My skincare routine + eye patches. I have started putting my eye patches in the fridge the night before to cool them and it is SO nice. I really do look forward to it in the morning.

Now it's YOUR turn!

What’s a big goal you have for this year?

How are you actually going to achieve it and what can you do to set yourself up for success? Are there barriers you can remove to reduce friction? Can you create a better environment for yourself?

Because setting the goal is the easy part- but actually following through is much harder!
